We're excited to announce that Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía (the Pope’s ambassador to the UK) will be making a visit of our diocese between Monday 1st and Wednesday 3rd July!
All are welcome to attend the opening event of his time amongst us, which will be a Mass of Thanksgiving on Monday 1st July, in our Cathedral, at 12.00 noon, in which we will celebrate in a particular way the Jubilarians of 2024.
The Nuncio will also visit some social outreach projects in our diocese; meet with Religious at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey; share Bishop’s Day with headteachers and school lay chaplains; celebrate Vespers with ecumenical friends in Lincoln; engage with civic and interfaith leaders over a working breakfast; spend some time with young people at The Briars; and having conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, finish his time with the retired clergy living in community at the Mercy Care Centre.
Although 48 hours isn’t long enough to see all of our wonderful diocese, nevertheless the hope is that the Nuncio will gain an insight into the many and varied ways in which parishes and communities are preaching the Good News of Jesus throughout the East Midlands.
