Every family is unique, but there are foundational disciplines that moms and dads need to focus on and prioritise. In this retreat, Mike and Alicia Hernon (of the Messy Family Ministry) will explain each discipline, show why it is essential, give examples of different ways it can be practiced, and offer some conversation starters for couples to discover how these disciplines should be lived out in their unique situations.
We aim to offer activities for Children during the day if you are unable to get childcare. The day will begin with Mass, after registration and dropping off children, couples will be invited to enjoy some tea and coffee before beginning the retreat. Each talk will end with time for reflection and private couple discussion, as well as time to ask questions of Mike and Alicia. We will end the day with adoration.
Cost of the event is £25 per couple and registration is required - if you can't afford the cost of the day please still come.
Couples are asked to bring a packed lunch.
In 2015, we started a podcast dedicated to simply discussing issues affecting families today. The goal was to encourage parents and get husbands and wives to talk to each other and to be intentional about their parenting.
Our podcast, which started as a hobby, grew entirely by word of mouth to thousands of families listening monthly. We quickly realized that we were being called to a greater work than simply the podcast. So in 2018, we left our jobs and started the full time ministry of the Messy Family Project. Our podcast is now one of the top podcasts in the world for Catholic parents and we have loads of free resources available to any family who needs them.
