We were excited to welcome the Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía (the Pope’s ambassador to the UK) on a visit to our diocese!
The Nuncio visited some social outreach projects in our diocese; met with Religious at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey; shared Bishop’s Day with headteachers and school lay chaplains; celebrated Vespers with ecumenical friends in Lincoln; engaged with civic and interfaith leaders over a working breakfast; spent some time with young people at The Briars; and having conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, finished his time with the retired clergy living in community at the Mercy Care Centre.
Although 48 hours wasn't long enough to see all of our wonderful diocese, nevertheless we hope that the Nuncio will have gained an insight into the many and varied ways in which parishes and communities are preaching the Good News of Jesus throughout the East Midlands.
